FabDye T Shirts
Dyeing cotton is just as easy as wool.....you only need to add salt to FabDye's Cotton Dyes.


DYEING A COTTON SHIRT
 
ADD PRE-DISSOLVED DYE TO HOT WATER AND KEEP HEATING
Add Quarter of required salt
ADD A QUARTER OF THE REQUIRED SALT WHILST HEATING
IMMERSE YOUR COTTON GARMENT INTO THE DYEBATH
ADD  REST OF SALT
ADD REST OF SALT (NOT DIRECTLY ONTO FABRIC) AND BRING TO BOIL
Simmer
KEEP SIMMERING FOR AT LEAST 60 MINUTES AND STIR OCCASIONALLY
Pull out of dyebath to check colour
CHECK THE COLOUR THEN RE-IMMERSE AND LEAVE TO COOL
RINSE A FEW TIMES IN COLD WATER
HANG OUT TO DRY

RED JACKET WAS A GREY HARRIS TWEED (SEE WOOL DYEING PAGE)

BLACK AND RED SILK TIE WAS BLUE AND WHITE (RED WOOL DYE USED)

HAIR WAS DARK BROWN BUT NOW LIGHTER WITH SHADES OF GREY AND WHITE

White stitching 1 White stitching 2 White stitching


DYEING A COTTON JUMPER

Water in Flame on Dye powder in mug
Boiling water in mug Pour in pre-dissolved dye First amount of salt
Stir after salt Ready for Dunk Immersing in Dyebath
Bring to boil and simmer After 10 mins add rest of salt Simmering
After 45 minutes check colour Rinse Window test
Wringing lightly Pegging On line
